I recently purchased a 1972 Silverface Champ for 40 bucks.I am not an expert on amps, Fender amps, or Silverface Fender amps. I am merely someone that loves old gear, appreciates Silverface amps, loves to write, and loves history.

Leo Fender began modestly building small amplifiers and electric lap steels with his partner, Clayton Orr Doc Kaufman.They have this sweet spot where you are just in between clean and distorted lands.You may have heard that transistors are distorting differently and harder than tubes caused by a distinct and sudden signal clipping when max effect level is reached in the transistors.So, here I am, writing about the history of some old gear, the Silverface Fender.I also have a small amount of knowledge of and experience in working on tube amps.
